Jewish (Ashkenazic): from the Jewish personal name Kosman, borrowed from German Christians. Jewish (Ashkenazic): occupational name for someone who made glasses or cups, from Hebrew kos ‘drinking glass’ or Yiddish kos ‘goblet’, ‘cup’ + man ‘man’. See also Kos.
