Maria della Mercede ‘Our Lady of Ransom’ known in English as the Mercedarians. Italian: habitational name for someone from Noli in Savona province Liguria from an adjectival form of the placename. Italian: possibly in some instances from the personal name Nolasco (see 1 above).
