English: nickname from Middle English sak sach ‘sack sackcloth’ with post-medieval excrescent -s probably given to someone who wore an undergarment of sackcloth as a sign of mourning or as a penance or perhaps given to a maker of sacks or sackcloth (compare Saker ).
