Stanich Name Meaning

Serbian or Croatian (Stanic): a patronymic or metronymic from a short form of the personal names Stanislav (see Stanislaw), or its female cognate Stanislava, or any other personal name beginning with Stani-. The female short form Stana was sometimes given to a girl in a family where only girls were being born, because it was understood as a derivative of stati ‘stop’. Slovenian (Stanic): patronymic from the personal name Stane, short form of Stanislav (see Stanislaw).
