Wimbrow Family History

Wimbrow Name Meaning

English: perhaps a variant of Wimbury alias Winbury a 17th-century Worcestershire Staffordshire and Gloucestershire name itself possibly from an unrecorded Middle English female personal name Winburgh -bury (Old English Wynnburh formed with Old English wynn ‘joy’ and burg ‘fortress’). Alternatively Wimbury might be habitational name from Wembury (Devon) but there is no medieval evidence that this placename gave rise to a surname.
