This database contains a variety of documents from the New York State Military Museum relating to the service of veterans from New York or who served in New York State units from the Civil War through Desert Storm. These include questionnaires about military service, registration and enlistment forms, disability certificates, transcripts of interviews, newspaper clippings, and photographs.

Details in the documents vary widely. They range from name, birth date and place, service history, residence, and employment to remembrances from the veteran’s time in the service. Some questionnaires even asked for popular jokes and songs and the most inspiring or saddest memory from the veteran’s service days.
