Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio Death Index, 1894-1897

The county seat of Lucas County, Ohio, the City of Toledo was home to over 131,000 people by 1900. Each record contains the person's name, date of death, age, and page number for the original death record. Copies of the death record can be obtained from the Toledo Health Department Information on the Death Record would also include: nativity, address, place of interment, burial permit #, cause of death, occupation, and length of residence in the City. *NOTE: this index lists all persons who died between birth and 1 year of age as age 0. In addition, there are a small number of persons who are listed as age 0 when the age was unkown, usually for someone who died elsewhere and was buried in Toledo. For example, there is one person listed as age 0 who was originally buried in Monroe Co., MI, then brought by her husband to be buried in Toledo 16 years later.
