About Algeria, Prisoner Exchange from Bergen-Belsen to UNRRA Camp, 1945

On January 25, 1945, a prisoner exchange took place and about 200 Jews were sent from the Bergen-Belsen Concentration Camp to Switzerland. These Jews had citizenship in North or South American countries. Most of the individuals were German born. After the exchange, they were sent to a United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration (UNNRA) camp in Philippeville, Algeria. The information in this collection contains the name, date and place of birth, and nationality.
