    Collection in Context

    The Australian state of New South Wales was originally colonized by the British in 1788. Initially, New South Wales served as a penal colony, but free settlers started arriving in 1793. Civil registration of vital records wasn’t required in New South Wales until 1856. Established in 1888, Wyong is on the Central Coast, north of Sydney.
