I am looking for the parents of my GGGGG Grandparents Philip DAYHUFF/DAYHOFF and his wife Elizabeth EBBERT. Philip was born in Frederick Co., Maryland on 18 Sept 1761. He had two sons, Bazzel and Upton. My records show Elizabeth as having been born in Frederick, OH, though I believe that it should be Frederick, Maryland also.

I reside in Frederick County MD and am looking for more information about my family history. My grandfather is Eugene (Bunny) Dayhoff and my grandmother is Hattie Viola Few. Granted my granparents moved around a lot but primarily stayed in Frederick County. Please contact me if you have any more information. My brother and myself are conducting a search now. We just started a few weeks ago and any information would be greatly appreciated

Dehoff in Berks Co, PA

I correspond with George Dayhoff of Texas. I recently was able to get
to view the microfilmed correspondence of Clarence Dayhoff in the
Pennsylvania Genealogical Society. Here is the complete list of
Philip's children from Clarence's papers:

John 1791-1871 Illinois
Abraham 1795-1856 Greene Co, IN
David 1797-1867
Henry 1803-1884
Israel 1806
Bazzel 1809-1864 Owen Co, IN about 1848
Hannah 1811
Upton 1814-1842

There was a reference to a Nicholas Dehoff in Maxatawney in 1756. Too
old to be the son of Heinrich DeHoff in York Co, PA. What I found in
Berks Co for Nicholas Dehoff makes both George and I think this is the
Nicholas who is said to be the father of Philip and Frederick.

Nicholas is on the tax lists in Berks Co for 1754 as a single man, 1759
as an inmate (living is someone's home), married in 1760, 1762, 1763 and
1764. He lived in Greenwich Twp.

Nicolaes (sic) Deehoff and wife Gertraut had son Johan Peter b.
10-1-1763 and baptized 2-12-1764. Sponsors are Peter Muller and wife.

John Hergereter married Anna Margaret Dehof (daughter of John Philip
Dehof) April 16, 1754.

Children of John Hergereter and Anna Dehof are:
Johann Heinrich 14 Jan 1755
Johann Philip 5 May 1756
Jacob 9-24-1758

John Hergereter is also on the tax rolls in Berks Co in 1760, 1762,
1763. He lived in Longswamp Twp. Which is next door to Greenwich Twp.

Since the Hergereter family disappears from the tax rolls about the same
time the Dehoff family does, I assume this is about the time they moved
to Maryland. Do you have any Hergereters in your tree?

Unfortunately, I could find no further reference to John Philip Dehof
who was the father of Anna Margaret and I think probably also the father
of Nicholas Dehof.

Annette DeHoff

(I am through the line of Heinrich Dehoff in York Co, PA, but believe
both families must be related somehow!)

I'm researching the Stroman family of York Co., Pa. from the mid 1700's through the 1800's. I came across a Daniel DeHoff marrying Ella May Stroman on March 4, 1888. Her birthdate was abt. 1864. Her parents were George A. Stroman and Henrietta Ropp. I have absolutely no other info on this union. Can you help?

Dehoff/Fultz Marriage - York or Frederick?

Do you have a record of a marriage of Eva or Eve Foltz/Fultz to a Dehoff? In her father Adam Foltz's will probated 1816, money is left to his daughter Eve Dehove which I believe must be Dehoff. I found one record at St Jacob's (Stone) Church of the birth of Johannes Dehoff to Christian and Eva on November 5 1799. I would be very grateful if you had a record of this marriage.

I have seen the same birth record for Johannes, but do not have a marriage for Christian DeHoff and Eve Foltz. I think this may have been a second marriage for Christian, but don't have any proof of it.

Your Eugene Dayhoff was the son of Morgan Eugene Dayhoff and Rebecca C. Stine. Rebecca was the daughter of John Gregory Stine and Cornelia Conetz. John Stine was born in Bavaria and immigrated to the United States in 1856.

My husband is a descendant of Rebecca's sister, Martha Elizabeth Stine who married John Edward Bart.
