Americanized or Germanized form of Swedish Mörk or Norwegian and Danish Mørk Mørck Mørch (see Mork ). Dutch: nickname for someone who is dicontented and disgruntled. Slovenian: nickname denoting a person with dark hair or complexion derived from mur ‘black’ (compare Mur ). Croatian: presumably an obsolete habitational name for someone from the Međimurje region in northern Croatia derived from the Hungarian name Muraköz for the region. Alternatively perhaps a nickname of the same etymology as Slovenian name in 3 above.
