About Mauritius, Danzig and Polish National Refugees, 1940

The information in this collection comes from two lists, "Refugees in Mauritius who consider themselves citizens of the Free City of Danzig" and "Refugees in Mauritius who consider themselves Polish nationals", that date to the middle of 1944. The list contains information from December 1940 for approximately 400 refugees who were taken to Mauritius, which was then a British island in the Indian Ocean. Information from the lists includes names, birth date and place, and nationality. The records come from the Colonial Office archives in the Brithish Archives.
