As a Gloucs surname, this is probably usually from Didcot Farm (Beckford, formerly Gloucs, now Worcs), recorded as Dudicote in 1179, Dydecote in 1327, and Dyddycote in 1570.

Perhaps also from Didcot (Berks), recorded as Dudecota in 1206, Dodecote from before 1237, and Didcot or Dudcot in 1657.

The names of the first two bearers probably belong here, but the name-forms and locations of most of the post-medieval bearers belong better with (i).
