Hijazi Family History

Muslim: habitational name for someone from The Hejaz (Al-Ḥijāz in Arabic), a region in the west of Saudi Arabia and a site of the two holiest Islamic places, Mecca and Medina. This placename nisba does not always denote actual origin.

Over the years, a number of Muslim pilgrims have settled in Jedda or other places in the Hejaz; eventually, some return to their homeland and could well be marked-out with the epithet Hijazi or Hejazi.
