Raglan Family History
Raglan Surname Meaning
from Raglan (Monmouths) which appears as Burgus de Ragland in local court rolls (marginalia) in 1587 and so also in references to Raglan hundred.
The place-name derives from the ancestor of Welsh rhag ‘before’ + glan ‘bank shore’; ‘(place) before the bank or shore’ i.e. the bank of one of the headwaters of the stream Nant Olwy.
