Timmin Family History

Timmin Surname Meaning

‘Tim's (relative/servant)’ from Middle English Timmen is a W Midlands genitival form of the Middle English personal name Timme, see Timm. It was interchangeable with Middle English Timmes, where the genitival ending is the more usual -es (see Timms).

The name is more commonly found as Timmins, and the rare modern instances without -s may be reduced forms of Timmins rather than survivals of the original Middle English form without -s.

In Lancs, the name may be Irish, see Timmons.
