Warvill Family History

Warvill Surname Meaning

Perhaps from Ouarville in Eure-et-Loir (France). Brissot de Warville is thought to have adopted the name de Warville in an effort to ‘pass himself off as a gentleman’ and is said to have claimed that his father held land in Ouarville (see Notes and Queries 1854 p. 480).

Alternatively, perhaps a variant of Worvell; compare Ann Worville 1725 Mary Warvill 1732 in IGI (Bredon Worcs).
