Bragginton Family History

Bragginton Surname Meaning

Possibly from Braggington in Alberbury with Cardeston (Shrops), which is recorded as Braginton in 1255 and Bragyntone in 1289. The etymology of the place-name is uncertain, though it appears to end with Old English connective -ing- + tūn ‘farmstead settlement’.

However, no medieval bearers have been found, and the early bearers from Cornwall suggest an additional unknown origin.
