Rusyn (from Slovakia, Vojvodina in Serbia, and Croatia; Bučko): nickname for a noisy person derived from Rusyn (Ukrainian) bucha ‘noise, outcry’; or at least in Slovakia, probably a topographic name or nickname derived from buk ‘beech tree’, hence a cognate of 1 above. However, in Serbia and Croatia it may alternatively be from the South Slavic personal name Bučko (see 3 below).
