Dela Surname Meaning

Americanized form of Norwegian Deila: habitational name from the farm Deila in the province of Telemark from Old Norse deili ‘boundary or property marker’. Polish: unexplained.

— Note: In the population figure published by the US Census Bureau (which increased from 227 in the year 2000 to 762 in the year 2010) the Spanish preposition and definite article de ‘of’ + la ‘the’ which forms the first part of surnames such as De la Cruz has apparently been counted in many instances as an independent surname.
