Irish (Donegal and Down): variant of Doran. Romanian: from a short form of the personal name Teodorian derived from Teodor Greek Theodōros (see Theodore).

French: possibly a variant of Dorient patronymic with fused preposition d(e) ‘of’ from a personal name derived from Latin Orientius the name borne by a Christian Latin poet and martyr of the 5th century.

Probably an Americanized form of Armenian Deroyan a variant of Derian.
