Marolt Family History
Marolt Surname Meaning
Slovenian: presumably a status name for a steward of the estate derived from German Meierhold ‘steward’ (compare Majer) or a derivative of the ancient Germanic personal name Marhold (see Marold).
Slovenian: alternatively from a respelling of marovt, an obsolete word meaning ‘disobedient person’ and also ‘student’, hence possibly a nickname for a disobedient or a studious person.
Dutch and German: rare variant of Marold.
