Sambourne Family History
Sambourne Surname Meaning
Probably from Sambourne in Warminster (Wilts) which is recorded as Sandeborne in 1249 or Sambourn in Minety (Wilts) which is recorded as Sandeburne in 1279 but perhaps also from Sambourne (Warwicks) which is recorded as Sandburne in 1086.
The place-names all derive from Old English sand ‘sand’ + burna ‘spring stream’.
