Sambridge Family History

Sambridge Surname Meaning

Possibly from Salmons Bridge in Tillington (Sussex). The origin of the place-name is uncertain but is perhaps to be associated with modern English samel sammen used to describe imperfectly burnt bricks or tiles.

These materials were sometimes misunderstood as ‘salmon bricks’ due to their pinkish colour.
