Japanese (three syllables): written 棚瀬 ‘shelf’ and ‘torrent’ or 種瀬 ‘seed’ and ‘torrent’; also written phonetically 田名瀬 or 多那瀬.

All variants are found mostly in Gifu and Mie prefectures.
