Tannett Family History
Tannett Surname Meaning
From the river Tanat in Montgomerys, a tributary of the river Vyrnwy, perhaps also from the Isle of Thanet (Kent), which is recorded as Tanet in 1086; though it is not clear if this surname has survived.
The place-name is thought to be of Celtic origin, perhaps meaning ‘bright island’ with reference to a beacon.
