Uridge Family History
Uridge Surname Meaning
Apparently from a lost place in Sussex named with Old English īw ‘yew tree’ + hrycg ‘ridge’ recorded as Ywrugge in 1279.
Though it is possible that some examples of the surname are from Eridge Green in Frant (Sussex), altered due to confusion with Ywrugge which was nearby.
See Erridge.
