Walsgrove Family History
Walsgrove Surname Meaning
from Walsgrave on Sowe (Warwicks). The parish was generally known as Sow until the 19th century (see Sowe) and a place within this parish recorded as Woldegrove in 1411 and Walgrove in 1576 is the source of the surname.
The place-name probably derives from Old English wald ‘woodland large tract of woodland’ (genitive waldes) + grāf ‘grove’.
